Prairie Fire Stunt Contest

Well another one is over for the year. Thanks to all who participated. We had lots of familiar faces and some new ones too. Bob Smiley,Chris Cox, Keith Varley,Monty Summach,Dennis Pederson,The guys from the Alberta club,and on. Here is a few pics and I'm sure a few will chime in with some interesting views. Our new beginner from Dawson Creek B.C. cleaned up as shown by the big smile and the load of prizes, with a big thanks to Bob Smiley for the donation of the banshee kit. Thanks also to Bruce and Allanna Perry for the great barbequed steaks on saturday night. I don't have all the results but they will be forthcoming.....Here is what I know,Old Time Stunt was won by Chris Cox, Classic stunt by __________,Beginner by Owen Scott (name?), Intermediate stunt by Dennis Pederson, Advanced by Bob Smiley and Expert by Bruce Perry.

Duck, I see by the "summer attire" that your summer is about as balmy as ours in Manitoba has been. I turned the furnace on during the past two nights because I couldn't stand to shiver anymore. Heating in August - previously unheard of around these parts.

Hiu guys, sorry Duck but you made a little error in reporting. I only came second in classic. Chris Cox came first, of course. Speaking of cold notice the judge picture of Bob Smiley, he's wearing woolen mittens. I think it was about ten degrees all day but the wind was so strong that with wind chill factor it was horrible,and no sun to brighten your outlook. The picture here is the two guys from Dawson Creek,on the Aklaska highway,it's mile zero. Hope my picture gets attached cporrectly Keith Varley

Assuming a different "ten degrees" than that to which I have become accustomed.

Really anxious to hear details of any misadventures suffered by Bruce. Rags in prop? Bits dropped through finish? Nicads failing? Wifey the center of attention and all sorts of "assistance"?

Cold or not, would loved to have been there. I'm betting that if I specified to Bruce that my steak be rare, it really would be. He'd probably even slice off a taste-test chunk of raw meat for me, something I am wont to do at home. And which grosses out some, although I have never understood why...

Actually Keith, Chris did not fly classic stunt, as he was a judge. I was sure you won with that red humongous.....

Oh yeah,,,, dont get old you'll start forgetting too. Then the winner was either Smiley or Will Reeb. And Dan, the steaks were the biggest and best. 'but because of the cold we had the whole B.B.Q. inside. Some guys were around Bruces work table and a lot were around extra table set up near the workshop downstairs. And no Bruce didnt get even one rag in his prop but the runs he got in classic with his Tucker were not good. And Bruce had even gone to the trouble of spraying his lawn for mosquitos,( which are about the size of eagles )And the steaks were huge prime Alberta beef perfectly cooked,(but nobody got Mad Cow Disease) Keith

Hello Keith it was great meeting you at Prairie Fire.It was a great time even though it was a little on the frigide side.I beleive this is the picture you are trying to post of Myself and Owen.He was grinning all the way home.It is a 6.5 hour drive so thats alot of grinning.I would like to say thanks to Bob Smiley and Chris Cox for there generosity to Owen.Also thanks to Bruce and Allana Perry and the Edmonton club for a great time.Look forward to next year.

Thanks very much for a really good weekend of flying. You are certainly a hospitable and helpful group of people. Special thanks to Will, Keith, Bruce and Chris for giving me some learning on all things stunt.
I think Chris gets the the patience award for standing in the cold and wind watching my plane pound through the pattern (time after time) while we tried to improve it's trim.
