The following is a series of photos of Jose Modesto’s work with “alternative materials” in precision aerobatics. Specifically, his work with carbon fiber fuselage assemblies and carbon fiber sparless, ribless wings. Jose has been very successful to date with his endeavors. At least, a half dozen East Coast flyers are campaigning successfully with Jose’s carbon fiber creations. Jose’s hallmark since “the early days” has been sharp paintwork. I personally remember Jose’s absolutely beautiful McCoy 35 powered Sterling Ringmaster he made when he was 8 years old! When Jose first ventured on to fields of New York’s Flushing Meadows Flying Field, to no surprise, he came under the spell of top Nat’s contender, Bill Simons and his fantastic finish work. That influence can still be seen today.
