I wish to ask all members why dont we have a universal location on engine mounting hole spaceing. You know what I mean 35 -40 40-51 51-65 . Would it not be great if we did not have to change the whole front of our airplane to put in another engine. Whats up. Thanks John;)

Great suggestion. Maybe some engine manufacturers out there might be reading this and take note. Most times to change motors you have to cut the heck out of your beautiful stunter to accomplish an engine change from another manufacturer other than making a change from the family of the brand you are already using.

RE: engine mount hole spaceing#2 sourceI don't understand why we have this problem. If I were going to put a new engine on the market it would be a drop-in replacement for whatever engine I was trying to bump out of the market. A partial solution, which will work sometimes, is to mount the engine on plates. Then another engine can be mounted on plates which fit the plate mounting holes. This does not solve cowl fit, nose length, etc problems, of course.

RE: engine mount hole spaceing#3 sourceTime for a little tub thumping! The R-M 40 fits FP and LA spacing. The R-M 61 fits the original Mk1 Merco 61 and ST 60 holes. Watch out for news of a new 51 that fits G51 holes. Sorry a few other things need adjusting!!
