Moter mount hole spaceing

I just thought it would be to the engine mannufacture advantage.Just think if you could bolt in any engine given spec size you may sell more engines for experiment what about that.The plus side make it easier on all above.By the way has anyone have a chart on this . We would like to know. Thanks John;)

I would just be happy at this time to have a chart that told what engines fit the same holes as other engines. I know that some will enterchange and I just bet there is a chart out there somewhere, HINT- HINT,,,,,,And, I just bet there is someone out there that has a measurement list also. I have several old planes that have been given to me or purchased at swap meets, that I have not a clue what the holes match up to. Again, HINT - HINT. Any info of this type would be greatly appreciated by me and I just bet other folks new or recent returnees such as myself. Lee....TGD

I noticed at the hobby shop they have an engine mount that is a clamp held down by 2 screws about 1.5" apart. It is actually for an RC airplane. The engine Mount bolts to the front of the airplane and the engine sets on 2 fork like things that stick straight out parallel to each other. Set the engine on the mount then tighten the clamps. You can slide the engine forward all the way, back all the way, in the middle or where ever you want. The engine can be straight or slightly turned to one side. Any engine will fit because the bolt holes in the engine are not used.

I've seen this before somewhere! Blowing my own trumpet :- R-M 40 fits FP and LA holes. R-M 61 fits original Mk1 Merco 61 and ST 60 holes. Watch this space for new 51 that fits G51 holes.

Another issue for the mounting questions is that the crankcase length also varies. So while the OS35s, the FP35&40, and the OS40 Surpass all fit the same mounting holes, the distance to the spinner backplate is different (not to mention engine weights changing the CG). Maybe not a big issue with profiles (at least not for me!), but it does make the problem a bit more complex.
