Hi Gil,
I not sure of the name yet. The last modified Cardinal profile name was "Temporary Insanity". And it was Temporary alright. I crashed it rather quickly (pictured below). So I think this one will be "Permanent Insanity" (thanks Tom). The engine is a ST 46 and the muffler came from Scott Dinger at Hy Flow mufflers. Great little muffler at 3/4 ounce almost the same weight as a tongue muffler and lighter than some. You can purchase direct from Scott Dinger or from Tom Lay his address is [email protected]
Scott Dingers address is [email protected]

Yeah Milt,
We have been roughen it alright. Hopefully it will smooth out in the air. Hard to keep myself in check, you heard it before. "Still crazy after all these years"

Norvald,
Yes, it started out as a kit. I threw away the ply doublers and made larger ones as you see, I laminated 1/2 oz. glass between the doublers and the fuse. The ST 46 vibrates a little more than the modern day motors so I wanted the front strong. I also moved the canopy up above the wing joint/leading edge to add stiffness in that area. Gives it a kind of a jet look. It's all a shot in the dark. Extended the wing to 56 in. and made the stab and elevator out of 3/8 thk. Stock was 1/4 thk. Laminated carbon fiber in the fuse between the stab and the wing to eliminate the profile flex that is so common. Relocated the landing gear mount to below instead of the side and made a new gear as you see. It's all Insanity.

Ok. Keep us posted on the progress.
I already have one Profile Cardinal flying very well whith an OS .46 LA which i got running very nicely after following the other (S/T vs. OS LA tread) . Removed muffler pressure and launched on lean 4 stroke.
Result was slower horizontal laps and extra power in manouvers.

I have a new kit for the Profile Cardinal 'on hand' from a guy who bought it in US. I have actually planned modifications much in line with what you have done here. I am especially interested in how the longer wing will perform.
Btw. will the flaps length be changed as well to go all the way out?

Greg is turning into a "Rough Boy." Somebody needs to put this guy in check!! I have been reading the post's concerning the OS Max 46 VS the ST46, and while there is no question about OS Max quality and reliability, the good old ST 46 is just a really tough act to follow.

Greg,
Nice work! Looks like Millennium wing spar...right? May I offer a suggestion? Put some vertical grain shear webs between the TE sheeting between the ribs. It won't add a lot of weight, but makes the wing a lot stronger along with the fact the TE sheeting won't "bow" in between the ribs. Be sure to post some pics of the finished plane.

Dang "What was I thinkin"...When I was all done I realized I had used the grain going the wrong way on the trailing edge shear webs. I could still tell that it made the resistance to twist a lot stronger. Thanks anyway Crist.
