Got to the park fairly early and got two flights in with the Streak. Easy. The place got really busy so decided to go to the 1/2A circle. Grabbed one bladder only to notice that it had a nick. Got the other and off we went. Filled the bladder and hooked up the clip – blown plug on the Fora. Got that replaced and pop, the bladder blew. OK so I’m not going to fly 1/2A today. My turn was coming up on the large circle so got the combat plane set up. While flying I noticed a great deal of vibration coming down the lines. Just about when I expected to run out of fuel the engine stopped suddenly. Prop was in the right place so I didn’t think too much of it till I went to clean up. My Wiley had blown a piston. The entire bottom end came off in a million pieces. Wrist pin in half, rod bushing shot. Amazing but only a minor score in the sleeve. Vibration had come from a loose front end on the plane. Called it quits for the day.

Sounds like you need a "Do-Over". But I bet you had some fun any way, right?

Yea! New bladders made and the plane is marginal, may or may not be able to fix it, but the Wiley is a bummer. I have a number of a guy that may have the parts to fix it. We shall see on Monday.
Let's see...Bought wrong prop. Borrow prop. Glow plug blew. Glow driver failed. New plane failed 90 dBa test. Rear half of muffler fell off. Flameout resulting in inverted landing, bent needle valve. NV broke off flush when I tried to straighten it. No spare. Entire muffler almost fell off.
Pretty typical day for us.

Last contest I went to......As I was packing in the morning I lost or misplaced my handle, so running late I grabbed my backup handle. When I got there I laid out the lines and adjusted the handle and went out for a practice flight. Well if your handle is off 1/16 of an inch??? Your bottoms will not be the same, yeah, pancaked it in upsidedown. Packed up and went home before the first official flight was flown. Dang I hate days like that. Grins
