Lil T-Bird

We are looking for a full size plan of the smaller Veco kit T-Bird for the .19 size engines. It was about 46" span from memory and is a scaled down '59 inverted T-Bird II. It was kitted in early 60s. As many know, the kits only had the instruction sheet with a die cut layout on the bottom of the plan, the only full size bit was the tailplane.

Bob English drew an excellent set of plans of the Little T-Bird.
Do you have a PAMPA directory?

I have one of the kits, but I'd like to have a full size plan to go with it.

Have you pushed the bits out of the sheets? What about tracing all of the bits carefully and sending them to me. I'll draw the plan if you haven't the time. That way many more can enjoy another classic.

The kit is untouched and likely to remain untouched for some time. I haven't done much building lately.

I have a little 1/2 a stunter i designed...its th cutest little airplane u ever saw...th wing is 6 1/2 x 33 1/2(it just came out that way) .... it has elyptical built up (like a t'bird)wing tips ,rudder and elevator .... th fuse is 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 x 20 including spinner ... which i also made (couldnt find one th right shape)... th gear is in th wing ....sorta like th aries ...
but its a hunter...i think its because th bellcrank may be to far foward ...i got th pivot point right on th c/g (which i always thought should be on th peak of th airfoil) i got it apart right now or id send a pic ...th tank was to small (perfect 3/4 wedge) i increased it to 1 and 1/8 oz that whole nose is just about tank (built it myself of course) ... i wanted to change th leadout position and change th leadouts from solids to flex so i had to pull th bellcrank thats where i am right now .... i need help ... i think .... also is there any way to get paint to stick to monocoat? ... otherwise im gonna use silk n dope this time... and dh .. if you can draw ... i'll send you th skecthes and templates ... so u can make some plans ... if u like .... only thing i ask is recognition for th design .... i always wanted a 1/2 a stunter that wouldnt "mush out" ..i think i got one ....oh and larry ...its got a cox teedee 051 (wanted to make sure it was an "A" class) for power hard startin but runs great ... jim

I got a set of bluelines from Tom Dixon some years ago. I presume he still offers them. They do show only the inboard wing, however . . .

Looking for a FINE LINE drawing of exact kit. Not modified in any way.

I just spoke with Bob English and he has stated that he gave all of his plan drawings to Bob Palmer as no one wanted them anymore. I for one would love to have the wing plan so I could add it to the Little Thunderbird kit that I make from the original Veco kit. Bob Palmer and his friend have these plans now so, who knows the friend? Hayworth or something like that. Anyone in Arizona know him?

I have a copy of Bob Englishes Little T-Bird plans. I can make copies to all that are interested for cost of duplication and mailing.

These plans are great, and include all of the required parts outlines for building the plane. These typical stunt plane plans, with side view, top view, etc.

Note, I have an old copy of the Veco plans as well. They are from an ooriginal VECO kit of the Little T-Bird that I built in the late 70's. These are typical VECO assembly instructions, with some full size views such as the nose, stabilizer, etc. And, a reduced image of the wood outlines. The might be of some use and interest, but are not needed by and experianced builder.

Bob also did wonderful looking drawings of the Rabe Mustang III.

If any of you know of the "Kookaburra" range of plans from Australia back in the late 50s-early 60s, I have a couple more here. Leonard already has a couple of the range. This range in the 35 size had the Spitfire (same as APS), Tempest and Chipmunk. The 15-19 ones were Spitfire, Hein (Tony) as well as a profile Aircobra. Anyone interested contact me. COST? ... maybe barter system!

Don't forget, SSW should have a great plan with everything on it for the VECO Mk II T-Bird by the end of the week. Full length wing as well as all parts and assembly.

Do you have an iron? Works for me.

That might work with something printed on a printing press with normal ink. Don't try it on something that came off of a copy machine. These things fuse the ink with heat. If you use an iron on it, you will get one big smear.

I faxed something to a guy in a motel once. It got wrinkled. He decided to iron it. heh, heh.

I have done it several times with no problem. I wouldn't try it wet but when dry I haven't had a problem. These were plans sent to me folded flat and I like to keep them rolled. I give them to my wife and she does them on the ironing board - maybe I need to watch to see how she does it.

I'm glad to help. I just made copies, Bob English did the real work. He drew the plans! I'll make it a point to contact him and let him know that the plans are being distributed. I am glad to here that everyone is happy with the copies.

It would be great to see some build pictures in a few months.

And it would also be great to hear about what modifications are done to the plane. Things such as leadout placement for adjustable leadouts, etc.

It is a 46" WS version of the T-Bird II. Looks exactly the same with a bubble canopy, inverted engine. Original was powered by a Veco 19, I plan on using a 1957 Fox 25 with the 3 bolt back plate.
Real good smaller size stunter.

I'm really sorry for the wait guys. I have several models to cut times 3, and it does take a lot of time to catch up. Due to this thread, I have 2 additional orders for the Little T-bird in February. So, unless a canx. comes up, I'm full up for the little bird. Thanks for all the orders. Good morning John. Yes you are the person that created the order first. It's just that since you ordered one, 2 others have emailed me to fill the remaining 2 kits as I make 3 at a time. Canx. does mean cancellation.
