How do you feel about the Old Time Stunt Event and it's rules.I have flown the event for many years and have enjoyed it a lot even with all the hassel about the correct way to do the flight pattern. This last year something has been bothering me to the point of speaking out about it here. At Jacksonville, Huntersville, and the NATS this year a few planes were seen with the landing gear moved a large distance from the location shown on the plans.One DeBolt Stunt Wagon had the gear two inches behind the leading edge of the wing. Also a Super Duper Zilch with the gear at the wing leading edge,thats over four inches from the plans location. At Huntersville I asked a kit supplier what he thought about it. He said it didn't matter were the gear came out of the plane as long as the wheels are in the correct location. Wow what a great idea . That means I can mount the gear in the wing and as long as the wheels are in the correct location. WRONG thats not what the rules say.PAMPA old time rules # 3.1.1.2 says "Landing gear must exit in the same location as the original design. It shall not be relocated to provide for perceived advantages in ground handling". Is this cheating ?. For some it may be but for others they may not have built the plane or they may not know the rules.What do we do to this poor fellow who has driven 500 miles to fly his plane?. Tell him he can't fly his plane, point him out to all the other flyers, embarrass him in front of others, call him a cheat?. No keep it between the flyer and the CD and let him fly his plane with out pattern points. How do you feel about some one who tries to beat you by cheating . I have never measured any ones plane at a contest but when I judge I do ask the flyer is there plane changed in any way and I take there word as truth.HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE RULES?.
