Gotta be careful, as what is generically referred to as "P-40" is actually a whole bunch of (slightly) different local rules.

In general, the "40" in P-40 means that is the largest engine size which can be used. Here in the NW we have added the limitation be applied staight-up to four-strokes, so ya can't use *any* engine which is larger than a 40.

Personally, I think it would entertaining to just once specify a *minimum* engine size to a local event, stepping back to see what transpired.

Mr. Dan. That is an interesting observation. Technically, I could fly in the P-40 event with my profile OTS British stunter called "Kan Doo", powered with OS .15. (winner of the 1948 British nats).

It would even up the playing field if the P-40 would also have a size/square inch/weight/ or ? requirement. Of course, one cannot restrict the event to only .40 size engines, because there are not that many to choose from.

Hey Bill,
Here in Baton Rouge we fly P-40 with engine size limited to .40 max,so anything less is ok also, we don't allow pipes, all AMA safety rules apply (line size, pull test and so on), no apperiance points so that way everyone can fly the same model..
