Almost ready ( Photo's)

Almost ready for color. Fillets in and fuse sanded. All thats left is inboard flap to CF. Had to make a new one as the first one warped.

As you see it here in all fight gear except for color it's 52.5 OZ.
So if I can keep color to 4 OZ. it will come it at the right fighting weight.

Now, you just have to spend 3 months on the other 3/4 of the job: a finish.

I'm always amazed at some guys. My buddy, Pat Johnston, just whips through this. Turns out some really gorgeous planes and never seems to sweat. Takes me 3 months to do a decent finish and it seems it's always a marginal job. Oh, I've had some decent finishs and I suppose the (many, many) flaws are mostly in my eyes (with some notable exceptions), but it just seems that this is the phase that I just slave over. Building planes is never a problem for me, but it's the tediousness of the finishing process that always boggs me down. I plow through it, but it ain't fun.

I do like painting though. Something about pulling the tape of to reveal the colors is very rewarding.

Your right about that it is a P47

Finish will be done by the end of the month I hope.

P47 is now about 1.5 months old. So it should be done in under 2 MO.
My finishes while are not front row but are very good.

EDIT: I would like to add as that I attack this like a Job. I just put more time in here.

This looks to be a real nice plane. I haave been off work quite a while .My new plane has been under construction since May 4th. I't is now getting some color.I was making fair progress .Now that I see your time frame I am impressed.
My buddy Lee Uberbacher started a Tempest 2 in Early Sept he is now right up to me as far as the new planes progress goes. He used to take 6 to 7 months to paint a plane. this new Tempest is his best yet. ( In my opinion).
