In a discussion of "power" and how it relates to CL Stunt models, in a posting dealing specifically with a 25FP-powered Medic, was the following:

"This is the same airplane (on the same flights) where we got rid of a huge amount of inboard tip weight and massive hinging by adding a micro-teeny rudder tab (half a glow plug cardboard thingie bent at about 15 degrees). That was actually more of a revelation than the engine."

Assuming we are talking about the same model, and I believe we are, I saw Bob's Medic when it was still fresh and at a NW Regionals. I do not recall watching it fly much, but the buzz around the pits was that it kinda sucked. I do know Ted was out flying it at least once and kinda shaking his head. I thought this significant only due to a perception that the Top Guys will refuse to fly the model of another prior to a big contest in PA, and there was Ted out gladly helping a friend, probably screwing up his muscle memory.

Anyway, I have an interest in what the exact trim problems were, how a very small rudder tab had such an effect on the model.

I would also like to know of a low-effort way to get world peace, but you may address that later and at your convenience.

That's grossly overrated. If you get a good airplane, you can fly others, not so good, and it will at most mess you up for a few maneuvers. If you switch from one mediocre airplane to another, that might be a different story.

Well, I know that *now,* just did not know it then; in fact, had been given a completely erroneous impression by a man who soon proved himself to be a very poor source of information.

Uh, a projection as to the answer about world peace?

You don't want to know my proposal to ensure world peace. It involves the rapid export of high-tech devices.

Thanks. It really goes to show - it's *little* things that matter. That little tab did far more for the performance of the airplane than tripling the "Power" (sigh....) or adding 2" to the tail moment, by a long shot.

Just another example of why, on that rare occasion that I have a new unflown airplane, I never leave home without first calling Brett Buck to be sure he can come out and play.

Ted,

That's a good idea, but tell me again how long it took for you guys to discover the model which eventually came to be known as "The Final Edition" had a teensy bit of left rudder inadvertently built in?
