I just received a os .60 four stroke that has never been run. Its mounted on a nice block of wood and has been in a glass case for at least 15 yr.Now the ? is should I leave it mounted and put in in my display case(not) or get some info on it and get it running and then what plane (controlline) would it be suitible for-or is it too big? It is a large engine and as i understand puts out about a.45 2 cyle power.It has external pushrods and rockers and is a neat looking engine. I put some marvel mystery oil in and it turns over and the valves do their thing-NO way would it fit my AAS-heheeeheheh
My take? Put it in the display case. First off, it is a new, old engine. And it is heavy. Although some have had good results with certain 4-stroke engines, weigh the engine and see what the difference is between this and a corresponding .46 2-stroke stunt engine. A 4-stroke engine sounds neat and turns a larger prop slower, but getting it to run properly in a stunt plane may still be a problem. And even if you solve the run situation, that weight penalty weighs heavily against using it as a stunt engine.
I thought so-it is big and heavy and it looks good in my case! I looked through the plans list and noticed most are in the smaller range. thanx-rain stopped -maybe can fly sun
