Saw this on Guillow's website, thought somebody might be interested. The price is pretty reasonable, I think. Gotta wonder how flat it is, or how flat it will stay. I think it'd be great if laminated to a 6" thick hunk of inspection quality granite surface plate. Steve

I've had mine for three years and it's still 'metal straight edge' flat. I use it as a portable work surface for smaller projects, and have built some complete models on it at work during lunch. At work I would just set the whole board, with a wing or fuselage jigged to it, on top of a book cabinet when not in use. It's reasonably light, and of course it takes pins easily.

Several builders I know have seen it in use and have bought their own so they can build subassemblies or smaller models away from their main bench.

Hi Steve. I had three of them, but sent one to my daughter so my grandson could build on it. I use the large one placed on my glass top. It has been used for 5 years now. I ordered mine via phone based on the sheet in a kit I was fooling with. Like Bill Groman says, great for sub assemblies and speeds up the building process. They are made of hard balsa and look like a table with the pieces butt joined at right angles. I don't think this would warp even up there in the "wet" NW.
