2005 NATS

I cannot find it on the AMA website... anyone able to tell me when the Nats are for 2005? My son is getting married in July and I would rather not upset him and my wife by making plans to go to the NATS if there is a conflict.

The 2005 NATs planning meeting is next Saturday, Oct 23. The dates will be firm at that time although the pre-meeting information says July 3-July 9 for the CL NATs.

With any luck enough people will request that we move the dates back to mid or later in July.

Not easily done.

The CL NATs is just one week in a month+ of NATs activity. As such, that week must dove-tail with all of the other events there. To make the change would entail concurrence of all of the RC disciplines and the FF folks, not to mention that the AMA Executive Council is continuously crabbing about the amount of time the site is "shut down" while being used for the NATs.

(Personally, I cannot think of a BETTER way to use the Muncie site! Just think: if we stopped having the NATs, the 1000+ folks who come there and use the site 24/7 for a month+ would be out of the way of those 14 or 15 folks who want to come sport fly.)

I asked Dave Brown about moving the dates. He said the same thing as you. The reason is that I have seen in the last 10 years or so it is less windy after mid july. This is of course not always true.

Here's a vote for a return to the traveling Nats. I know, I know. No Chance. But it's a thought.

Just finished the NATs planning meeting. We found the proverbial snowball in h....!

The dates for the 2005 NATs will be July 10-16, 2005. And 2006 will probably be July 9-15, 2006.

Hey Bob I planned one year to go to Denver for a labor day contest. I mean I planned it all spring and summer. Guess what, two weeks before Denver I was told my oldest daughter was getting married on that labor day. The lets me back in the house anyway. Anyway congrats on getting a new daughter in law. My son got married while I was still in Tuscon this year. DOC

This reminds me of a Jerry "Who" Meyer story. Apparently some years back, his daughter was setting up plans for her wedding day. Jerry said fine, but he wouldn't be there---it was the Sig CL contest weekend!
