Brodak Needle Valve Assy.

Has anyone here tried a Brodak needle valve assy. as a replacement part for other engine makes, such as Fox Stunt .35's ? It is a very nice piece, and is priced about the same as the Supertigre unit.

What's the matter with the Fox units? Especially since they began using a round taper instead of the flat deal?

The Brodak (made by Double Star) NVA is .156" diameter, so would choke down the venturi of a Fox .35 or OS. You could file the sides to correct that situation. Some Brodak and 2Star NVA's have been known to have some weirdness associated with them, such as burrs inside, and NV's that would not screw closed enough to shut off fuel, also a problem with some of the USA-made ST Clones. Of course, you'd have to drill out the hole in the crankcase, not a huge deal, but permanent. I'd do it. Steve

Don I discovered that the Brodak would interchange with the Fox.I recently used a Supertigre.46 clone needle.I had to use several washers with that needle,mostly all of them on one side.I wasn't real satisfied with that particular set up although it worked fine.The clone cost me double the Fox.I own a Brodak.40 and I think the machining on that unit is particulary better than the clone I purchased.It does fit the Fox.As far as choking down the venturi,the Brodak takes up the same volume as the clone I purchased.I didn't check the diameters but I'm flying my Fox on a Ringmaster.I suffered no decrease in power that myself or others noticed.One thing I did notice though,we can make fun of those Fox needles,but they seemed to work better.I'm not knocking the others because I could definetly fine tune the engine.It just seemed the set it and forget it worked more reliably with the Fox. Fox needle valves may be OK, but I've yet to see anyone ask if a Fox needle will fit a Super Tigre.

My preference for a Fox is the O.S. Max NV assy. for a .15FP. Same O.D. as the Fox spraybar and much finer adjustments than the "15 clicks/revolution" Fox.
