Intrepid XL in bones

This is The Intrepid XL in 'bones'.
The 'bones' will eventually be Citrus Yellow.
I will to use Noel Drindraks 'Fadeproof Ink' method.
Another guy on he forum gave the advice to precolor the balsa with the ink diluted in alcohol before applying the first coat of dope.
Plane is built as as instructions, except that i have added 1/16 " ply doublers in the nose section in addition to the carbon fibre mat.
I will also be using carbon landing gear.
As for now it is 45 OZ including engine.
So that leaves med with 12-15 OZ for the finish to stay under 60 OZ.
It will be covered with RSM chinese silk on wings and silkspan on fuselage. Then the ink dyed clear dope.
Power will be one of the Rustler Merco's.
Picture is of the 'standard' one. It has been bench run for about 1/2 hr. Exellent behaviour. I was most impressed with the near total lack of vibration.
I have already ordered the new Merco Metamorph 61S from Ian Russel. I also ordered a Tempest II from Randy.
When the goods are good quality and the vendors are nice and helpful guys, i choose to stick with them.

(Just got a new digital camera today. It may not be quite 'run in' yet)

Very nice work. It's nice to read of your use of silk, and to see the solid leadouts. Don't see much use of either one lately.

I bought the kit from a friend who did not have time to finish it.
He had started on the wing and mounted the solid leadouts.
If i can avoid bending them, they otherwise work ok.

Yellow bones after painting appr. 1/2 fl OZ of Miller citrus yellow ink diluted in pure alchohol. So what is left after drying should not weight much.
This is applied before any dope, so i 'sucks' in fairly deep.
This allows for fine sanding before applying dope , silkspan (on fuselage) and silk on wing.
Obviously there will be parts of the plane where the surface itself is not so suitable for the transparent color that this ink method produces.
So i plan to have the decorating pattern in normal solid dope.
I have red, green and white for that
