"Special Issue" MA

The latest issue of Model Aviation is curious, I think. Bob Hunt wrote a terrific piece on competition, and the National Championships are very well covered.
What I found interesting is that almost all of the write-ups featured pictures of crashed airplanes, it seems. Do you suppose that this carnage is intended to appeal to the majority of Air Modelers that do not compete? The "Demolishion Derby" aspect?

What crashed planes, other than the midair in slow rat? DOC

I didn't see enough carnage in the RC combat section, but it was good coverage. Really need to get mpg's with that section to give you the feel of combat, same with CL. Racing is great with blurred pictures indicating speed, pattern is good with beautiful airplanes in the midst of the pattern, nothing says free flight more than 2 or 3 people stairing up in the skys, but other than the carnage on the ground or the smiles of the faces of the pilots after a match or grimaces during you really need action shots, that includes the wobbling knees of the competitors. Man, first combat match of a meet and I can barely walk, it improves as you numb up a bit.

It was another good issue of MA, don't care what anyone else says about it.
