Here are some of the score sheets that I got today,Suday. Also a picture of Daffy Duck getting his old time award.I like Tom do you know why I called him Daffy Duck? I will tell you if no one can figure it out. All had a great time. More pictures will come soon

Hey Eddy - Seems I missed a good time. Looks like the "usual suspects" were there and did well. Did Owen fly the Gypsy or Avanti in Advanced? I see you flew classic, and how you did. Not bad for a plane with the paint still wet. How do you think the Tucker will do long term? Looks great! Ya like?

I was thinking of you this weekend, as I flew the old "Viking" w/Fox59 for the first time in...well...??? many many months at least, maybe a year or more. I almost took the muffler off to really test the guys hearing...but I thought better of it. Dang that thing flies better than I remembered!

Eric Owen had to fly the old Avanti as he put the Gypsy in upside down in Classic and took off the rudder, easy repair. As I judged advanced I did notice that the overhead eight was done the poorest of any maneuver. No one did it over head, all were to one side. Also only two flyers gave us 4-6 ft bottoms, most were at 8-10 ft.Most people thought I had a pipe engine in the Tucker as they had never seen a Rustler 40 before.The key to the engine is to run it in a very very fast four cycle, 10,000 rpm. I had been using to much prop for the Tucker and was getting to much speed.I have gone down to a four pitch prop and it will hold a setting for the entire flight.The engine gives me no warning it just stops so I need to be sure I have the tank filled. It uses less than three ounces of fuel for the pattern. I sold a lot of engines including my Fox 59's on Saturday.

I forgot that I had called Tom Hampshire Daffy Duck, here is the reason. Tom had the nicest full bodied Ringmaster that I have ever seen.It was super light and had Daffy Duck for the pilot and Daffy had his hands up in the air and they were sticking out the side of the canopy. He had many colors on it and checkered board paterns inside the canopy

His "original" Ringmaster is the first I have seen. I knew the model was small, but it is so neat. I loved the four different colors of silk he used on the wings, and his 59 Ares is a sight to behold! At first glance I thought it was covered in some type of plastic covering like transparent Monocote. It looked that smooth. The one time I don't bring my camera and out pops a true jewel.

Hi Curt It was great fun but there was one moment that made all three of us judges run. Dave Courtney pancaked in and eat most of his prop and it started a shaft run.This all happened right in front of us and we ran down the hill that we were standing on.He put the plane over the hill 15 feet off the circle down into trees and wild brush. The plane could not be seen and all thought is was smashed into small pieces. They got the plane out and it only had two very small holes in the covering.This was a Junar I believe. He flew it in the next round. He never did come close to us as it went in about 50 feet from us. I didn't know I could move that fast. We had a great time. For those reading this it rained Saturday night but not during the contest.

Yes..

I heard the prop come apart and then saw the plane on a weird course off toward the bushes.

I actually thought it was a fly-away, but heard later what happened. Dave was fortunate the plane survived--those bushes are pretty thick.

Hard-hats next year?
