AMA Rule Book from AMA Site ? problem solved - Thanks

I have been trying to read the AMA Rule Book on line. No success so far.

I have Windows XP and AOL with a phone modum.

I paid my AMA dues via AMA's web site.

I could easily buy tee-shirts, patches, and plans from AMA.

The SALES side of their house is fine.

The SERVICE side is another story. None of the "competition" section works. All I get is an icon. No text.

As instructed, I downloaded Adobe Acrobat. Also a Netscape patch tehy recommended.

Still no Rule Book.

Somebody please go to AMA's site and give it try. Is it just me?

Try the dropdown list under Publications, that's where the rule book is.

Go in thru membership first. It works for me.

It's there, FWIW. Either under the Publicatins drop-down menu, or via the Competitions page.

The new rule book (rules effective Jan 1,2005) is not yet published. When it is, the version on the web will be the OFFICIAL version. As I understand, you will still be able to get a paper copy, but only on special request.

Suggest you wait until after the first of the year.

You do not need to be a member to see the rulebook.

I just went in with Netscape 4.7 on an NT machine. used the publication item at the bottom of the page and then to the rules.

FWIW

Click on "Membership Services" and "AMA Documents (PDF)"
Scroll down to #334 , open, and select the section you want. Opened right up from here w/o logging in.

I do exactly as you say.

AMA, Documents, #334 ------ all that works OK.

But I get past the "Table of Contents", and the actual chapters are just blank icons.

It's like buying a new car.
If it don't start when you turn the key, it don't staart.

I got in working now, but not so easy.

I had to download each chapter ( in PDF code ) into My Documents.

I then X-ed out of Internet and loaded Abode Acrobat.

In Adobe Arcobat I was able to open the Rule Book.

I have never experienced this kind of hassle on a web site.

The IRS ( the infamous Intimidation Renenue Service ) uses Adobe. Their tax forms open with a click. like the lord intended.

It sounds like Acrobat isn't loading automatically for you like it should. The files opened smoothly for me. We need a word from one of our resident PC nerds, I think.

I had a similar problem, I had a computer crash and when I got evrything running again I went out and downloaded acrobat 6, for some unknown to me reason I could not open any PDF's so I uninstalled the # six and reinstalled #5. Now all is well

I am afraid that it isn't the web site, but it sounds like you have a problem with how your browser is setup to display pdf.
