Pathfinder the Great(pic)

My friend flew his new Pathfinder yesterday and the smile on his face was something to behold!
He now has a plane that is "'way better than he is".
It looked capable of doing everything with ease and was under control all the time.
He has an LA .46 with a three-blade prop. Annoying whining sound from the prop but what a great plane!

I gotta finish my Pathfinder!

Finishing this one took 21 months. He says it was worth the wait! hahah

Yep, the PF is one fine bird. Like this one, I spent too long building mine, but it is so much better than the things I had been flying. I like it enough that I have another kit in the hopper for this winter's build, and another SSW 40 on the way. I smushed the first one a couple of weekends ago. All but the outboard wing survived. I have a new OB wing ready to splice onto the rest of the ship.

Here is another beautiful Pathfinder with an LA 46, flown on a regular basis here in Reno, Nevada built and flown by Alan Beers, probaly the best pattern flier we have in our circle.

Photos of the now-being-repaired PF. SSW Tower 40, Brodak tank. 61 foot lines. Morris hardware. Sweet flying machine!

Later: New OB wing is now grafted on and planking repaired. BTW, I set this one up exactly per Gordan's instructions. Our two best Advanced flyers could find little wrong with the way it flew. It hinged a little; removing 1/2 oz tip weight cured that. Can't wait for warm weather again!

I love to see all the various finish designs on the Pathfinder. Anybody got any more?

Not yet. I'm thinking about solid yellow, with one of those big red "Cardinal" stickers on the wing. Steve

I want to THANK YOU for the design. It's a very smart looking plane, and flies like nothing I've ever hung onto before!! I've got a long way to go in order to get anywhere near as good as it is.

Gordan, I just got a copy of John Miller's revised full-fuse Pathfinder plans and they are to die for. Let's see...plans show full fuselage, choice of I-beam or C-tube wing, and a full sheet of just the parts patterns. Plotter drawn on vellum, no less. One of the very best sets of plans I has ever feasted my eyes on. Thinking about working a laser cutter deal on it.

I love my PF and have another in the pipeline behind it. Ya done good. Thanks!

Let me know if you decide to go the laser route. I can help out with the files needed for the cutter.

Got to watch my friend, and mentor, Dale McCord fly his Pathfinder at Bryan a few weeks ago. What a machine! What a pilot!! Then I "flew" my late 'Tanager'.................... Glen

In reading some of the comments in the Control Line section of "My Forums" in RC Universe, I get the indication that the Pathfinder ARF is out. I think I told by Brodak's that it wouldn't be available until around Feb or Mar. Anyone know about this?

Checked with Henry Werner at VHS, and he told me the ARF's are in quality control, and should be available in Feb....Glen
