PAINT COLORS???!!!

Hi guys I need help (no comments please)

I am almost finsihed with my Satona, the pa40 powered plane like Curt Contrata has been flying.

I was going to paint it with a base of yellow but then i started thinking about what looks good on the yellow?
trying to get away from the white that i use for the base of EVERYTHING I do.

Any ideas? Better yet, Any pictures??

On the color wheel Purple is the contrast color.

If you look trough the flags of the world, you will find that yellow, red and green is one of the most used combinations.

Or Yellow, with Red and Black trim colors. (sp)

Here's pretty nice color scheme.... easy to paint, too. (ha ha).

Sorry about the identity error last week-I like the idea that purple is the contrast color on the chart--If you look at Windy's old Cardinals' in the middle 90's he used a car laquer purple on contrast w/yellow for some beautiful ships..He sent that same purple to me to use on a model I built in 1995.

Well, I know you have seen those out there in yellow, green and orange and they look like adverts for Taco Bell. Stay away from that combination, or else I'll tease you, a lot.

Purple, pink, and LIGHT BLUE.

The big dog R/C pattern guys are very secure, and yellow with pink and purple trim are quite popular.. Yellow has good visibility.

What you might try is a trim with a red base and blue pearl over that and a blue base with a yellow pearl over it. Red under a yellow pearl makes an awesome glowing gold color, perhaps not enough contrast over yellow. Be aware that pearls often look much different than expected over different bases. And pearls are fragile and need to be clear coated a short time after application.

And use a very bright yellow, not a cub yellow. (When you are spraying it on, it should be so yellow it looks a little greenish..)

Metallic dark blue also works well over yellow.

I always prefered blue trim on yellow .

Billy Werwage's Junar was Yellow

Orange and white go pretty well with yellow also. I have used those with it lots of times on motorcycle paint. Probe purple is also a good one to use along with lime green stripping.

Is Probe purple actually Ford Ultraviolet?

Must we always fall victim to the demands of the women in our lives? Well, I suppose the answer is yes, but I like to go down screaming. I once built a Skyray 35 for my wife to use in racing that was all black and then was to be trimmed out in pink and white. She never did finish the trim on it, but I still have the pink covering in the box for when she decides that she would like to finish it.

Nice to know that you were considering "Pink"~!!It does reflect a sense of security W/your manhood--Leaving all that "Machismo" stuff aside..I was just speaking W/R Campbell about a possible "Pink" stunter!!With red trim--etc...I would like to see your color trim scheme if you have one or when you create it..Not "Garrishingly pink, but "Pink". I remember the No Neon phase, even though S.Buso's plane was nice and unusual...The no "pink" phase may arrive..LOL....Thanks David

I would like to help.

I draw the side and top view of planes in my computer, then I do apply any colors or design that I have in my mind and look at them. This help me to make my decision.

I have done several planes for my club member and myself. Now I have some different planes in my archive like as:
Legacy, Tbird, Force 40, P-47, Eclipse, Buc 746 pipe, Nobler, P-51

Here is a sample of my own Force 40 drawing. I am personally very interested in aysymeterical design.

If U want, I can certainly help you to create the drawing, and show how your design and color palette looks before even U get ready for paint.

there is a picture of curt contrata's on the back inside cover (or in that area) of the nats/worlds stunt news.

Blue and Yellow always makes a good combo!

Black and Silver are pretty much loser colors, you know like the Raiders. Got to give your Dad a hard time, I saw him wearing that Raiders jacket at Huntersville.

I have a blue and yellow plane that I love. The color scheme is simple. It is 5 years old and every time I fly it I love looking at it!

Blue front half and yellow back half.

You can also add red or orange in the mix. Look at some photos of Jeff Gordon's NASCAR. Blue yellow and red look really good.

How is the wife doing? I hope all is well.

Grace is crawling everywhere and I can hardly keep up let alone get anything done. I am having a blast!!

PLEASE TELL US WHAT PROGRAM YOU ARE USNING AND HOW YOU DO IT!!!!

That is a simple and very COOL paint scheme! Very realistic!

I am a graphic designer. I use programs very different than what's normal users use.

I use for this particular purpose, Adobe Illustrator as follows:
1. Shoot couple digitals side and top of planem @ 0 persepective, white backgraound
2. Retouch the digitals in Adobe Photoshop
3. Make template of digitals in Illustrator
4. Redraw the outline of the plane base on template
5. Then mask the outline and apply color and design.

Sounds a little hard, but not really. cuz the program is a very deep programs. Doing this, is just pretty minimal request from the program.

What this does, stop your imagination about the look of plane, and help U to make a dicision base on a visual on your hand.

Also for more realistic view of the plane, it could be done in photshop as well, but more time consuming.

Here is a ROUGH idea...
i sketched this free hand and then scanned it...
not perfect but i guess it is close enuf for goofing around..
also i included the satona and the big brother the katana...

I have photoshop but not illustrator...

Try trim colors of blue, purple, and green. Maybe a minor amount of gold as well.

Bill Rich used this on one of his planes a few years ago, and it worked pretty well.

Here is an oriental in yellow with orange, white and maroon. All Brodak......

I just slapped this together fast like...
some of the colors did not line up because well i was using photoshop...
dont know if this is the way i will go but this is kind of the idea of what i was thinking on doing.
