LA Backplate.

I hear the Tower backplate is a good replacement for the original plastic one on the 40/46 LA. Is this the one from the no longer produced PB engine, or the current BB engine. Or are they the same?

I've got two on back order. Just checked the status of my account and they're still saying "early November."

I just got one from Tower for my LA.25, it was left from the OS.25fps.
The OS.fp back plates may be in stock. I got OSfp backplates a month ago for my LA .40 & .46, they were in stock at the time. The OS parts may cost slightly more, I just wanted to stick with OEM parts. Get the gasket set and socket head screw set while your at it and have a more user friendly engine as far as taking apart and cleaning.

The Thunder Tiger 40 is a clone and will work. The Thunder Tiger 42 will not.

I have been running my LA-s .46 & .25 with the plastic back plate, is there a problem with these plates? I always see people talking about them on here.

Same here. No problems with the plastic back plates. Should I say yet? Personally, I wouldn't bother replacing it if it hasn't failed. Might be a good idea to use washers under the screw head though.

I agree. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

However, sources of new replacements is diminishing so I am buying a few just in case--or should that be when?--the plastic backplates fail.

It's cheap insurance.

That's why I ordered mine. May not use them for awhile, since I haven't really noticed any obvious leaks. I plan to run more LA's in the future, because they seem to be really good engines, so having the backplates will probably come in handy.
