Yeah, yeah I know, it doesn't have any lines and it won't fly "The Pattern" but I thought ya might want to get a look at another side of the hobby I've loved since Moby Dick was a minnow. Its an orignal 50 year old Kenhi Badger F/F with an OS 28... Lotsa lazy summer fun for the rolling hills of the Tri-Cities WA area.

RE: My N/O Control#1 source

Free Flight always bothered me in that when you launch the thing, if it flies well, it could fly away.

I guess I was too insecure to build something and simply let it go and see what happened.

At least with controline I could pull up on the elevator and keep it from hitting the ground.

Mostly.

Cy.

P.S. That said, what a wonderful piece of construction!!!!

Yeah,it used to do that until I got tired of chasing it and put a tiny radio in to control the rudder....When I said "lazy fun", that's what I meant. Now I can keep it close if it tries to run away...I'm old you know..

I vividly remember my first try at a gas powered free flight. It was a Goldberg Viking. Nobody told me about putting prop on backwards until trimmed. Did the proverbial figure nine into splenters. Since then have builu .020 solid sheet design that flew great. This inside of a ball diamond when my son was not flying control line yet. I think I still have it somewhere in the dungeun. Later,

My Kenhi Badger is still in the box waiting "for one of these days". Nice job of building and finishing.

Bill

I build more planes than I fly, collect more engines than I'll ever use. That about says it, right?

NICE! I used to fly free flight until I lost 3, count'em 3! in one day! There's still absolutely nothing more beautiful than a free flight model circling in the sun.

Have fun,

Ron B.

got inspired by the f/f and slapped together another "zwiebox" this afternoon...i musta built twenty of them between the ages of 11-18. instead of razor planing the airfoil (can't find it) i broke out my palm sander with some 100 grit and had a workable airfoil in about ten minutes (.250" thick c-grain). i forewent the finish and any sort of d/t 'cause the sun was getting low. went down to the schoolyard with my new 'box and a handful of modeling clay. after entertaining a grandpa and his grand young'un for about ten minutes i found the lone balsa eating tree. how silly it must look for a 40 year old to climb a tree! a few more chucks and the durn thing caught a bubble of lift and dissappeared in the general direction of the VA hospital.......my arm is sore, but it was worth it!

Maybe that's what I did wrong. I never lost more than two in one day. That was my first F1A Nordic and first F1B Wakefield. Never got the F1B back, so flew F1A for 15 years. Fun stuff. Steve

Exactly how I explained it to Allen Goff a couple weeks ago at the first annual FCM Free Flight contest.

Here's a shot of me in 1971, dig those plaid pants. I still fly mainly Free Flight. And another of my friend Joe Macay and I at the 98 Nats.

While we're on the subject.......

This is me at the Omarama Cup last Easter in New Zealand flying F1C...

I flew F2B at the same venue (just up the road). For a full week, nothing but FF and CL, in perfect weather, what a fantastic holiday that was.......

Aahhh. Stardusters and Kordas. I still have my 1200 Satellite and a Pearl in the garage and a bunch of Orbiteer kits, a Midwest Snafu, five Starduster kits, X, 350, 600 & 800, et al. and a lonely Maverick. Plans galore and Ronnie Thompson giving me a hard time about not flying free flight again! Might as well, can't stunt worth a hoot. I miss indoor peanut scale too.
