I think the fuselage profile bears a striking resemblance to the USA-1 (or the other way around...)

Tim,
That is a Formula "S" a very good classic model. Also in shown in the photos is a Stuntwagon, Tucker Special, Regal Raider, and a beam mount Baby F/S.

That was a pretty prevailing look in the '68 era. According to Mr. Werwage, the USA-1 was influenced by the NASA-1 of Jerry Worth. Novi(s) and several others were somewhat similar in overall "jet" look.

Years ago while going to a telephone school in St. Louis I had the privelage of going to Schaeffers Hobbies on Virginia(I beleive). There was a lot of history in there. Just look at the pictures. As ole ski nose use to say, Thanks for the memories. DOC

Glad to see those pictures. I tried to get a friend in St Louis to shoot the Formula S in 2000, when I was building mine. I forgot who I talked to at the hobby shop, but was told that I could not take the pictures, that it was Dave Gierki's plane and that it didn't have a McCoy 40 in it. I sent B&W pictures from the magazine article showing the plane and both Kostecky's and Gierki's AMA numbers. Still could not get permission to shoot it.

My Formula S is an outstanding plane. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a great classic plane.
