Ritch's Brew Fuel

Getting ready to order a few gallons of fuel. Planning on ordering "Ritch's Brew" 10% 22% 50/50....Good all around fuel for most 2 cycle c/l stuff??

Mike...I've used two gallons of the stuff....it seems fine...I don't use it now because of the availability of POWERMASTER.

Hi Peabody....Yeah I saw that Power Master fuel in the local shop for $13 a gallon plus tax but it was only 18% oil...I wanted at least 20% and really wanted 24%.....The best deal I could find is the Ritch's Brew with 22% 50/50 oil...Thanks for the info....

The 18% Powermaster works okay, too, though most add old...castor if you are using Foxes to bring the total to around 25%, and synthetic to bring it up to about 22% if you are using "modern" engines.
Buy the Castor from Sig....it's real good.
Klotz KL300 is the preferred synthetic...lots of motorbike stores have it.

Perfectly good fuel, have used it for years. Only problem is availability. (That's an advantage of PowerMaster.)

Randy Ritch will brew any formula you request. I just got 2 gallons of 15% nitro, 28% castor, 1% Klotz - $10.85/gallon. This is for my Foster-ized Foxes.

And he's "local" for me - only 35 miles away . . .

Wish he was local for me.....The cost of shipping is almost as much as the fuel....Bummer!

Mike, if your LHS has any Powermaster, they can get you Powermaster GMA formulas. GMA stands for George M. Aldrich, and the formulae are specifically CL fuels. They come in 5% and 10% nitro, 29% all castor, or 22% half Klotz, half castor. Good stuff. Use the 29% for iron piston/bushing engines, 22% for modern engines with ABN, ABC or AAC construction, or ringed ball bearing engines.

If you hit up the dealer before they order fuel, it shouldn't be a problem, or cost you any extra, especially if you pay in advance. The fuel comes from the LHS's distributor, not direct from Powermaster. That will probably be the same distributor that supplies Ultimate Hobby in Auburn, where we get ours. Steve

One other possibility - - Aren't you up in "frozen tundra" land? Another company, Cooper's Fuels in Battle Creek MI has a good rep for blending fuels at a reasonable price. Shipping should be considerably lower.

Haven't used them, myself, 'cause of logistics . . .

Hey Steve.....Thanks for the tip on the Power Master GMA fuel....The LHS ordered me 12 gallons for $11.50 per gallon....Whatta deal!

I've been using that exact formula of the Ritches Brew for I guess about 10 years, here in Dallas at Mike's Hobby Shop it's just 8.95 a gallon, I buy cases at a time 'cause it's a long trip over there.

Another good advantage of the G.M.A. type of Power Master fuel is that there is no dye in it to colour the bottom of your plane.The other types of P.M. fuel are coloured blue or red depending on the type and also Sig and Coopers are including dye in their fuel, much to my chagrin. Keith Varley
