I must say "thankyou" to my Dad who was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and a
"your welcome" from me and all my shipmates that were on the USS Manatee AO-58 in the Tonkin Gulf 1972-73.

I build more planes than I fly, collect more engines than I'll ever use. That about says it, right?

No, thank YOU. Especially for paying your taxes. I had more fun than the law should allow, made friends of a caliber that's hard to express, not to mention the job skills and education. The sense of satisfaction that comes with serving is purely bonus.

Yep, thanks to the taxpayers I got to see the world and meets lots of interesting folks. 28 foreign countries and lived in 9 states while in the Navy. I also learned that Christmas, 4th of July, Vets Day, my birthday, kids birthdays and wifes anniverssary where just another day at sea. Now I can enjoy the labors of those "kids" in Iraq and Afghanistan. God Bless them.

Amen to all the above.
I am a Brit emigrated to Oz in 1982.
My Father went through France and Germany in WW2.
My Grand-father was a Stretcher-bearer in Gallipoli in WW1.
Both survived, neither would tell me anything about it, so awful it must have been for them.....

And to all those that may be in a position to influence hiring practices, lets do all we can to make certain that all the young folks currently in harms-way have decent jobs when they come home. Hire a Vet!

Yes, while late, I want to sincerely thank all who have served, and wish you, in particular, a happy and pleasant Veterans Day. While I did not serve in the military, my Dad served in WWII, 1942-1945. Wound up on Padre Is., in charge of a LORAN station that was part of a chain used for training B-29 crews for missions over Japan.

Even later, but thanks to all who are serving or have served.

My Dad served on PT boats in WW2.

I served 1960-1966, mostly in submarines.
