It appears that those Mcmahon snaps folks liked are now back in production.

by the 100 here at about $40 in silver

or in small quantities here in black

I would think someone would manage to find a supplier closer to the source and get them for less.

Lane,

There is a sporting goods store about fifty miles away that sells those silver snaps for a quarter a pop for one or one hundred. I just don't get by there often enough, and when I was last theretwo years ago, I stocked up. According to the store owner, the snaps have been continually available.

By my math that figures out to $ .40 each. Why not buy a hundred and pack them up 4 to a pack for $ 2.00 and sell them on here? Add the cost for postage ( they could be sent in an envelope ).

I have purchased snaps called "Mc-Rosco" from the following site:

I have also purchased similar snaps from a kite supplier. Does any one know the difference between Mcmahon and Mc-Rosco snaps?

So what size do you order? #4,#5,?

Remember the finish starts with the first piece of wood cut.

I have some of each but the #4's are a little small. The #5's are preferred.

I've seen some in the local fishing stores, but they're not of the same quality as the old Berkley ones. The Berkley McMahon Snaps had a flat surface below the "hooks". The new ones also look a little crooked, and I don't know if they spring back together as well.

Of course, these may not be the same ones in the sources mentioned above. They're typically black (or "dark", as the jargon goes), and they're some cheap Chinese brand. They aren't all that cheap, either.

The "Stamina" brand ones look promising, if they really are made of Stainless Steel. The Berkley ones were brass.
