Virus email alert.....

Just got an email delivered to my "bulk mail bin", supposedly from [email protected]. It contains the "W32.netsky.C.2mm" virus. The subject is "In your mind?". Somebody who has Dale Barry's email addy and my email addy in their email address book has the virus. Please fix it ASAP.

Yahoo! screens my stuff with Norton, plus I have AVG on my computer. To be honest, it's about the only reason I use Yahoo! I've never had any luck getting my box to work with Norton installed. Having two AV's working for me seems like the safe thing to do. What one doesn't catch, the second might. Steve

Macafee's "Virus scan" ain't half bad either.

Stuff that winds up in my bulk box gets deleted if I don't recognize the sender's address. Later, DOC:)

As we speak I have worm I can't catch I reboots my system Ive tried everything even a new HD and it's still there! Very anoying!

Most of us know that these viruses don't usually come from the computer of the person whose address is shown, but rather somebody who has both addresses in their address book. It isn't Dale Barry, as far as I'm concerned, but somebody who has Dale's address and my address. Can't think of too many who might, but it should ring a bell with somebody. It's the only reason I posted this info.

Doc: That's part of the problem. We recognize the sender, maybe they're not on our addy book, but no doubt on the addy book of somebody we know. I guess maybe I failed to make it clear that Yahoo!/Norton caught this virus, as they have hundreds of times before. If they catch it, there is NO WAY I can open that attachment, no matter what I do. Idjit proof, IF they catch the virus, and they ALWAYS have.

Dwayne: Sounds like you need professional (or at least semi-professional) computer help. Finding a person with computer smarts that can put up with my ignorance took awhile, and a lot of frustration on my part. Then too, the pro computer shops tend to come and go, both large and small. Steve

I haven't seen anything try to show up on mine yet,but I'll keep an eye open.

Since we're talking computers here-can anyone help me answer this question. I get e-mail that has my address, but isn't to me. It's to another person. How can that be? My provider has filters that catch viruses, I've got firewalls to catch adware, blockers to stop pop-ups, but still these come in my normal e-mail, through my normal e-mail address, but the from-to is to someone else.
