rebuilt website

Over the past year, many have asked me to put up pictures of the planes that I kit. A lot of people had no idea what a Veco Smoothie or Chief looked like. OK, I can understand that, so I have asked Walter Umland who is my webmaster to help me redo the entire site. I now have all of the Veco kits that I make with the original pictures of each and the NEW PRICES. Yes, I have had to do this too. I haven't changed my prices in over 2 years and the cost keeps going and going and going UP. I have also added pictures of my kits that others have built and sent to me so I could put them along side the kit listing. There are a few with out pictures, however, as I get the pictures I will add them to the site. Please have a look at the new site, and thank you Walter for the exceptional job! Those of you who have already ordered and paid for the kits for me to make will get the old price. This includes the 3 Tony's that are almost finished. Any orders that are waiting for Dec. Jan. and Feb. delivery will be at the new price. For this I am sorry, but it is 2004/5 and everything around me is going up. I really think you're still getting a great deal though. Thank you, Larry

The improved site looks very good. Mr. Umland did a good job for you. Putting the pictures up makes a good deal of sense. There is only one thing that concerns me and that is the following statement:

"LARRY will ship any of his kits anywhere in the Continental U.S. and Puerto Rico / Hawaii."

Are you considering Alaska as part of the Continental U.S.? (Most companies don't when setting shipping policies.) If not, do any Alaska flyers who own your kits have to return them? Or.......are you counting on CR to deliver kits to those of us who live in the far Northwest?

Inquiring minds need to know.

Alaska is included in the CONUS. The cost is the same as it is for Hawaii so far. BTW, no one has ever returned a kit to me! If they did, I'd sell it to a friend in Alaska that needs to BUILD A KIT!!! Then fly it. This should be a good winter for you to settle in with a good hot cup of coffee/brandy and start smelling the glue. Have a nice day Paul. Larry

I have been told that I have to finish a *?@#*? Skyray .35 first. I still don't know why I let myself get talked into that one, especially since the instigator's is a great deal less finished than mine. The third guy into the deal has finished his.

Then, I've been told, I should build a full fuselage ship before any more profiles. You see, I have this really nice Midwest P-40 clone by some dude in Reno that I had planned to build this winter, but I have been advised to put that one on the back burner. My choices are, but not limited to, the Jetco Dolphin, a Midwest PT-19, either version of the SIG Chipmunk, or A SIG Mustang. There may be others in the storage unit that I've forgotten. Too many choices, so little time.

Looks good - I wanted to see what those kits looked like, too - especially since a bunch of people told me about the sharp corners The Chief can turn.

The one kit is listed as the P-63/P-39 Airacobra and the box says P-63 King Cobra. Which one is the picture on the box?

Edit: Just googled my own answer. The pic on the box is the P-39 the P-63 has a much taller rudder.

Do you sell plans or 3 veiws for the P-39 plane?

We race warbird planes but, the wing area has to be 300 sq. in. and 1" thick minimum.

Hi Walt. The reason for the P-39 / P-63 is that the original 33" box says P-63 King Cobra on the lable. The actual kit parts AND plans in the box are, and do show a P-39 tail assembly. Unlike its big brother, the 48" P-63 K.C. does have the tall fin and rudder. Midwest made many mistakes on many of these kits, 33" and 48" alike. Wrong size wood, backward bellcranks and wires shown on the plans, printing mistakes galore. I have spent many hours on re-working just about all of the obvious mistakes and re-working the plans too. The box lable I just couldn't do anything about. Actually, on the 33" K.C. I can do the proper vertical fin and rudder if the buyer wants it. I do not sell the plans seperatly. My plans are different from the original as wood sizes and drawings have major changes as I have developed a single piece fuselage for all 5 of the 33" kits and some of the 48" kits. Scale tails are another major mod to some of the kits and all of the kits have solid L/E's unlike the dado'd style Midwest used. I hope this has answered the question. This is not the first time I've had to explain this. (many have asked)

Great news! I've checked out your site many times and wished there were photos for those of us not familiar with some of the older stuff. Other sites please take note. I know it's a lot of work though.
I have one of your 48" span Midwest P-63 kits purchased from a friend, Keith Sandberg. Haven't had a chance to build it yet, but I am anxious, the quality looks superb. It is coming up on the list though, and will eventually fly as "Tipsy Miss", the ex Reno air racer.
I'll look forward to more photos and I hope to do business in the future.

Hi Don, Yes it is. I built it in 1977 and it took me almost 4 years to finnish. It's from a KYO scale kit bought back in 1966 when I was in Vietnam. It now hangs in a good friends trophy room.. I hated to destroy it as I could not move it to Nevada with out another truck! It's in good hands.

Hi Don. Sorry to say this, but no I have not flown it. It was set up for 4 os max 30 r/c's. So you might say I chickened out and it became a static display for a few years and a few people wanted to buy it but I just couldn't let her go. The plane was hand painted and has an original S/N of one of TWA's super G's. Infact, TWA paint shop sent me the original paint layouts for the detail. I still have some of the sheets. I removed the engines and put dummy's in place as you see in the pictures.
