Another question about O.S. Max

While I'm on a roll, does anyone have a source for those tiny O-rings that slip over the venturi to seal it against the case?

I've tried a bunch of places including McMaster Carr and can't find any that small. I have not found where they can be purchased separately from O.S. either, only included with carbs and venturi sets.

Believe it or not, a well-stocked ACE Hardware or equivalent should have small black neoprene washers in suitable diameters and section. As others mentioning their local hardware store have commented, they soon get used to us pawing through the parts bins and drawers...

I've even used 1 1/4 X 1/8 neoprene O-rings to replace the "tires" on the thin turned aluminum 1/2A wheels. Price isn't bad, either.

I got mine at a Tru-Value hardware store.

Interesting. The current size used by OS is approx 1/32" width by .375" I.D. (although they are metric). The only std. O-ring that's 1/32" is a dash 001 1/32" Width 3/32 I.D. dash two starts with 1/16" width.

So are you guys slipping on a dash 012 (1/16" W X 3/8" ID )and squishing it down to get the NV thru it? Have considered it but had hoped to find the real deal.

Check with your local bearing distributor. They should carry a very complete line of O-Ring seals..... OH,,, I forgot,, you live so far back in the hills they gotta pump in the sunlight... Better check my bearing distributer, their catalog is much more up to date (1986)..

OS is like that. These are metric, but I found a supplier where I can get them. They have to order them in themselves. I get them 200 at a time, and I must say a bit cheaper than what OS would sell them for even if they did sell them separately.

How many do you need? (Time for me to order more anyway. Venturis made on a lathe don't come with o-rings.)

Thanks Len....I'll send an e-mail. Another thought is that in my other life, we used to use O-ring kits that had the extruded rubber lengths that you cut to size and CA glued for odd ball or hard to find sizes. I'm just not sure that a 1/32" cross-section will bond properly even when cut on a diagonal. If you get 'em I want 'em. Your point was correct. When I turn them on a lathe, the "O-ring Fairey" doesn't leave any!

Tower hobbies carries them as well, I just purchased some.

I have tried venturi with and without the O'Ring it works fine either way. If you have a good fit it can't leak enough to hurt anything. If you think the microscopic leak needs to be plugged up then use some silicone.
