GMA McGas, McCoys

Hi all,
I remember talking to George years ago about his McGas engines. He had ran out of 40 parts by then, and I didn't have a 40 at the time.
Who out there can speak to the performance, etc., of these?
I know he did a good bit of work on the conversion. I remember he did some things to the bushing, etc..

Hey Bill, I have 3 of the little beasts, all are barely broke in.
They are well behaved, start within 2-3 flips, The first few runs
where on a 9-4 rev up at a fast 4 cycle, 5%-28% mix, excellant seal
and compression. George said he lost his butt on them. Chromed crank
& crank pin, chromed wrist pin (that what george said) and chromed
sleeve. He did acknowdge that some where sent back because of a poor
seal between the crank shaft and the case bearing, mine are excellant.

I forgot nylon pads on the wrist pin,crank pin and a nylon washer in
back of the thrust washer.

I have never seen one in person, but I have always wondered about them. I understand that they are set up to be much longer lasting, and "speced" to be as good as a McCoy can get. I just might have to get one, one of these days!

Ed Southwick used these engines in his Skylark and Lark designs? He is recorded as having "factory specials" which were a cut above the average motor, (unless you got a 1 in a 1000!). I reckon any FI Red Head McCoy done by GMA would be the equal or better than Ed's., and would be an excellent stunt motor, a real Rolls Royce in fact!
