Coloring a plastic fuel tank

Does anyone have (successful) experience painting or dyeing the plastic 1/2A Norvel engine mount-tank? If so, can you relate the technique here? Thanks in advance.

The Norvel tank comes apart , and not sure what type of glue is used so be careful or you will have a leaking tank. See YA NEAL;-)

Covering seems to be a better idea.

Cover it with EconoKote. Monokote will NOT stick to it.
