Windcast

Wind is a topic of interest to us all. I have found Windcast at Intellicast to be uncannily accurate in predicting the winds. All you have to do is go to www.intellicast.com, select forcasts for your area (it's obvious how to say where you are - put in the ID letters of the nearest major airport, or your address) and then select "Winds" under the forecast menu. It really does work - close to the right magnitude and direction, and also surprisingly accurate in time, as well. If it says it will be 5 mph from the west at 10 AM, then turn to the north and pick up to 15 at 4 PM - that's pretty much what's going to happen

For example, it accurately predicted the disaster winds at the 2003 NATs, and also that if you managed to get through, it was going to be perfect the next day. I have used this for a few years now and it's good enough to use it to base trim decisions on.

This is great. Another one you might try is the Club site for the Brazos Valley Radio Control Club. Go to flybvrc.com and click on weather, then on wind conditions. You get a 3 0r 4 day forecast of very detailed wind and weather conditions, and I think it breaks it down in 3 hour increments. This site will show you the conditions for College Station, TX, but you can ask for conditions anywhere.

Heres another GREAT weather site,very similar in operation but you get the hourly wind prediction for the required location if you click "DETAILS" ITs..< weather underground.com > Keith V

Intellicast is a useful site in a number of respects. From a graphics standpoint, I much prefer Intellicast to The Weather Channel. You can manipulate it to do more stuff, too.

One would think that TWC would be signiture weather site out there, but...
