Fox 09 question

Someone tell me the story on the Fox 09 (the one with the rear intake) development. Was it developed for (or with) Gilbert? What was it originally called on the casting? Were all of them sold with the name ground off the side?

Currell, As far as I remember it came out in 1958, that is before the Gilbert motors which were about late 1961. None of the 09's that I have had the name Fox anywhere on the motor. They were not bad running motors but powerwise they wern't world beaters. You must remember that it was designed as a beginner motor and I think that it did fulfill it's designed purpose. Supposedly a 7/3 was the prop for it but I used a 6/4 with great success. Still have a Wowee with one on and it really isn't much faster then a good black widow.
If anyone has a good liner then I could restore one that is in my box of motors that need parts. Seems like there are a lot of other parts out there including glow plugs but no cylinders.

Mine has no markings on it at all... if you didn't know it was a Fox, you'd never know it was a Fox. I have the orig. box, too! Feels like good compression, I'll have to try to fire it up one of these days.

Didn't he sell them mail order from a PO box in Fort Smith? Or was that a differeent one.
