There are no secrets to reworking Foxes. Larry does what everyone else does!

He sprinkles each engine with the best voodoo incenses available, soaks them in rare oils overnight, sacrafices endangered species to the Stunt Ancestors and then fixes them in his work shop.

Depending on what you want out of your fox, he trues the mount beams, balances the shaft (or if you wish. install the high zoot Randy Smith shaft) channel the bypass, custom hemi head, stuffer backplate among other things. NVA and venturi work etc.
You will need to get with him and agree to what you expect and need and settle on price. I have two of his engines that I use for comparison with my reworks. I do not do it for others, only myself.
I have the greatest respect for Larry. I do not have his E-Mail address, but it should be around on this forum somewhere.

It still 4-2-4 breaks with authority and with more power in the 4 than before yet does not run-away in the 2. I think that the extra power is definitly worth the cost. You still have to run a lot of castor due to the bushing shaft and steel/iron P&C (unless you opt for the ABC setup which I do not recommend. I have three of those and all three have been retired to ther junk box as I get more power from the steel/iron setup. (a little more vibration too I might add)

The Larry Foster engine with the High Zoot crankshaft is the smoothest engine I have, and it still has the steel/iron P&C.

Not "different". Just the engine that the Fox was supposed to be in the first place.

As for me, I'd rather have a hand fitted Max-35-S but if you want a FOX, you probably want a custom built one and Larry's have proven to be fine engines.

I spoke with Don McClave just recently and he is raving about a Fox 35 he got from Randy Smith, complete with Randy's High Zoot crankshaft. Don is just finishing his new Classic model--*not* yet another Oriental, if you can believe it--wants his very best motor in it, will be flying motor from Randy.

This from a guy who I swear has a Fox 35-calibrated dyno in his flying arm.

I have two of the "high-zoot" L&J Fox .35s, but they are reserved for OTS or Classic projects. Realistically, your Foxes should be, also. More modern powerplants are more powerful, even more capable, and way less expensive!

By the time you get a really super Fox .35, you have over $200 invested, and there are box-stock engines that provide an excellent stunt-run for well under $100. Also, Larry says that he's almost "burned out" on reworking Fox .35s. He's done over 1600 (!) in the last few years.

Just my opinion,
