Brodak 40 and 3 blade prop

Has anyone used a 3-blade on a brodak 40, or did I just miss that post. And, which one(s) do you recommend?

haven't seen this combo yet. Probably due to the lack of available low cost 3 bld props. Bolly does make a 10 1/2 X 6 1/2 3 bld., but it would need repitching to less pitch. Or you would have to cut down one of the Gator Props.
Brings up the "eternal question": Who/when will the Grish Tornado 3 blds be available again, or who will make a repo?

From the Grish link, out of the Phil Brown site recently mentioned in here, I found the front page open, the product lists and prices present, and (I think) an update note on the front page about a recent upgrade.

They may already be back!

I have too many props just now to order any more, so any hopeful word would be great to see in here...

I've tried bench running ALL of the 10x4, 10x5, 10x6, 10.5x4.2 Props that I have. I taken head temps, RPM'S, and found the 10x5 just about right. It's an old glass bolly I have lying around. TODAY the GATOR prop will go on the test stand. It's a 10x4 stock. And I hope to re-pitch it to 10x4.5 and get some numbers. ONE thing. The Brodak 40 seems to be a 4-2-4 engine. Even though this engine run very well on the test stand I'm leaning toward the 10.5x4.2 will be the set up on my COBRA. OH I will try a GATOR cut to 10.5x4.2 some time this week.

I have a 2 Tornado 10 x 4 3B, and 2 which have been cut down. Have found they load up every engine I tried them on. I think it was the width of the blades. You can have 'em if you like, just send your address by email.

Hi Jerry, Both Phil Cartier and Ken Armish have used 3 blade props on the B40 with success. Their trick is to de-pitch to a 4 0r 3+ with a heat gun. Keep trying and you will succeed. I haven't done this as yet but Ken placed quite high in our Stunt contest as an Intermediate and Phil has tried this arangement on his Brodak Smoothie. Give them a shout and ask questions!

I have a couple of Master Airscrew 10X7's, which are really 10X5's. I will de-pitch one to 4 and try that when the flying weather returns.
