Where's the best place to buy this stuff from?

I escape the hassle and get it from Randy. His is the type that is "softer".
Some I've bought from other sources has a lot of "sizing" or something and is pretty stiff.

That's not the worst problem with "stiff". The excess sizing is the source of the pinholes. Took my 18 pointer and made it a 15-pointer.

You need some Bob Violett pin-hole filler. The stuff works great!

I didn't equate the pin hole problem I had with the "different" veil, but you're right! It was the real stiff stuff and I worked WAY too hard to get rid of all those tiny little holes.
Knew there was a reason I didn't like it other than it not conforming real well!

I've also had alot of trouble with CF veil sizing. THe Sizing is SUPPOSED to breakdown with whatever material the stuff is compatible with. Alot glass fiber products are designed for use with polyester, vinylesters, or styrene-based product and won't release with the epoxies.

Some of the veil I hve gotten wont release with acetone, styrene, lacquer thinner, or anything I had around.

Other than holding the material together, the sizing also functions to "wet" the strand and ensure that there is a bond to each strand--this is CRUCIAL to the development of the composite strength of the finished material. THe stiff stuff is easy to work on non-compound surfaces--but after that, it is bad stuff.

The material I got from Randy seems to be the right stuff. Breaks down with epoxy and appears to wet out the way it should. THe pin holes are telling you that there was an issue with the wet-out of indivdual strands. I know we dont generally count on the full strength of CF Veil, but its nice to have compatible materials.

THe worst part of the problem for me was when I talked to the tech support folks at the place I got the material from, they seemed to not have a glue (clue) what I was talking about.
