Second night working on this wing I had forgotten just how many pieces were in it 65 per panel. I ended up with a Windship bell crank for this one (I think I'm lucky).

I have weighed this panel already and it's only 1 .75 oz. so I'm on track. The center ribs are 1/8 the next 4 ribs are 3/32 and the rest are 1/16. Sheeting will be 0.77. The last T-Bolt wing was all 3/32 so I will be saving some weight there. Old cap strips were 3/32 X 1/4" wide the new ones will be 0.77 X 3/16 so there's some more off. A few grams here and there will all add up.

I will finish this wing frame tonight 12-1-04 (finished)

Now for the fun part. Tonight I will lay up molded parts. I will post photo's on the next thread. I am looking for this plane to be on it's wheels by the end of the month. Might say it's a Christmas present to my self.

What all are you including in your weight? I figure the leading edge sheeting and the trailing edge sheeging. Are you including the webbing between the spars? What about the trailing edge cap that still has to be put on in the picture?

Also, have you ever thought about tapering the spars?

Just curious.

This wing should come out 7 oz less tips and BC.

Does that include all of the landing gear hardware?

Everything except the wire.
Just wood work should come out at or below 7 oz I know Bob Hunt has built this same wing at 6.5 but he has better wood than I do.

I once bought a bunch of wood from Bob....his cast-offs, and it was wonderful.

These weights continue to mystify....Windy gets a wing to that stage and it weighs 12-14 oz. He puts a genuine 20 point finish onto the aeroplane, and the same sized plane ends up only 3-5 oz. heavier overall....what am I missing?

See Ya

Interesting to say the least. That Polyspan must weigh about 6 oz.

Naw...just kidding. These weights seem to be right to achieve 56 oz to 58 oz.

I have the Zone 2 wing cores on the scale. They are super light sheeted and with landing gears. Comes to under 9 oz. I figure I should hit high 50's this time, but I will not hold my breath.

I also noticed that the Team Trials weights are all in the same range, with only a few minor exceptions for really small planes.
