AMA Competition Newsletter

Some time ago, Model Avbiation (or the mag that AMA was with) had a separate section labled Competition Newsletter. Does anyone know the year and month it started and ended? Also does anyone hav/need the copies??

I'm not positive, but I remember it started some time in the late 60's. Later it was sent to only those that wanted it as a seperate printing. They even had some neat decals. My oldest decal is 1969, so that puts it in that era. I guess the postage rates forced it back into the magazine, also Model Avaiation became more than a newsletter when Potomac Publications went belly up and that ended American Aircraft Modeler, which used to be American Modeler, which used to be Young Men, which used to be Hobbies For Young Men, which used to be Air Trails, which I think used to be FLying Aces.
Or did you already know all this trivia?

Nope, Flying Aces and Air Trails were two separate entities prior to WWII. I believe Flying Aces sort of morphed into Air World after the war and it eventually became today's Flying Models.

Thanks Don. That one had me confused. They look so much alike, almost as if done by the same house. Then in the early 50's a comic book type came out called "Aces High". The local Rexall had two copies each month and Hugh Montrose and I always got there first and bought them. Great stories about real W1 and WW2 fighter aces.

American Aircraft Modeler is the one I was thinking had the CN in it. Somewhere in 1970 or 71 they started maling it separate. (I believe). Those CNs had a lot of good tips in them. Some from Duke Fox, George Aldrich, Bob Giadini, Art adamissin and a lot of other good ole boys.
