What lines are used these days?

Hi Guys,
It is me again. What size lines are used these day to fly a 29-40 size plane. i am sure there is better stuff than the old Sullivan lines I have left over from the late 1960's.

Here you go, Tom's got lines he sells.

For that size engine you want .015" stranded between 60 - 65 foot center of plane to handle. Any bigger engine and you need .018" to comply with AMA.

If your old Sullivan lines are in good repair, use them. Just pull test them first. Sig or Brodak will sell you new reels for them if your old ones are too ratty.

Brodak and Sig sell good lines too. The advantage to Sig is that your Local Hobby Shop (LHS) can order them for you if they are a Sig dealer.

Also, you can buy aircraft cable in bulk from McMaster Carr Supply (http://www.mcmaster.com) and make up lines yourself in a very cost effective manner. They'll sell the cable for $0.03/foot in quantities over 100' and for $0.02/foot for 300' or more.
