Wanted Source for 1/2A Spinners

Does anyone know if there are 1" Dia. to 1-1/4" Dia spinners still available for use on 1/2A Stunt Planes. I think Ace and maybe Veco use to make them in this size. Any help would be appreciated. I would really like to build the 1/2A Cobra which calls for a 1-1/4" Dia spinner. Thanks for the help.

1 1/4" is a LOT easier to find than 1".
However, I do not know of any in current production.
I have found a couple odd size spinners through friends and ebay.
Easiest way to get a 1 1/4" spinner is to cut down a 1 1/2" one.
If you have mills/lathes, you can make a very nice smaller spinner from a larger Veco/Froom.

...If you don't mind the eggshell appearance and seeming - but not actual - flimsiness, the COX (sorry Larry R) RTF spinners do well.

What they need, unless you're using a 5-40 thread like the C** prop shaft, is you to CAREFULLY drill out the 'barrel nut' (stock on such C** RTF's) to clear your engine's shaft/shaft bolt. Then use the original shaft bolt or nut through the barrel nut. Be creative! The NorVel hex-head slotted screw fits.

These spinners snap onto the barrel nut, and are very light. I've adapted a few to NorVel 049 and 061. They stand up to the RPM and don't vibrate (as long as you are careful about drilling the nut and shaping the prop blade cutouts). They are NOT positively enough located on the shaft to use an electric starter.

Sizes are around 1" to 1.25", and the spinners and nuts should be available as spare parts for the RTFs. Limited choice of colors... might be possible to VERY lightly spray on a dope or enamel. "Test in an inconspicuous spot first", r-r-r-right- where's such a spot on something this small?

Wayne - Do you want real spun aluminum spinners, like the old Froom type? Or do you prefer lightweight fiberglass/epoxy? I have access to both.

I would be interested in either of these types. I am not sure which is preferable, especially if using a Norvel spinning at ~20k rpm.

I have the fllg Veco Aluminum spinners available. They are absolutely New In Box, unopened, and you essentially are looking at something from a '50s era time warp. They come without union nut, but I have the (original) separate Veco dealer's box of assorted nuts, and if you specify what you want, I may be able to help you.

Hi Wayne, Ebay is the best source for spun Aluminum 1/2A spinners.
Ebay seller Easytiger quite often has other plastic types as well....
such as Merco,Enterprise and WenMac.I'd love to find a froom 7/8"
spinner.....even when you do find the 1/2A Veco and Froom spinners,
the correct shaft adapters are almost impossible to locate. I tried to
get James from China to produce them, because I saw a hidden market
out there...no go....maybe Brodak will be able to get his Chinese
connection to produce them.

Sorry, I screwed up the e-mail to you. Please let me know what you want for the S-2 1 1/4 Veco spinner. I will probably use it on a Norvel .061 I think this has a M3 x .5 thread so I doubt you have a Union nut to fit that. I might also use it on a Babe Bee .049 which has a 5-40 thread. Maybe you have a union nut for that. Thanks for your help. Look forward to hearing from you.
