A rare ebay bargain? What is the consensus?

Any ebay item posted on a forum like this will not be a bargain by the time bidding ends.

And (just a personal opinion here) a Ringmaster with a McCoy is the worst of both worlds--hardly a bargain at any price.

Better a Flite Streak with a Fox.

A bargain is when someone buys something at a price lower then he thinks its worth. When it at auction value is whatever the market will bare. I got a bargain on a Bantam .19 my wife thought was a total waste of money, "bargain" is a relative term.

Didn't anybody mentioning the market getting "bare"? Hmm, what kind of auction are we talking about? (My we are getting picking with words today).

Leonard, please install a spell-check feature, your observation has exposed the naked truth about my tranpositioning of letters. Being stripped of my pride it can plainly be seen that I am somewhat dyslexic.

The description was accurate as far as "old and used" go. Don't know about the "great" part though. The cost getting this thing shipped intact will probably push it out of the bargain category if it isn't there already.

Cy: I won't argue the Ringmasters, but I surely like my McCoy Redheads. Great 4-2-4 runs, easy starting, strong for a baffle motor.

Are you using mufflers on your McCoy Redheads? If so, what works best? I have four Redhead .35's, one .29 and one .19 and am hesitant to run them with mufflers because they are so prone to overheating and cooking the piston/cylinder. The other side of the coin is that the noise problem is always with us and we have to be aware of that too. Otherwise, I do like to run these old McCoys........they are loads of fun.

No. Where I fly (in a park), they don't care if you use one, or not.

However, I would make a strap-on tonque, if you need one. I do have a few that I use on Fox Stunts when the local requirement is to do so.

For somebody that does not no any better, this would probably be a real bargain. The McCoy may be just the one version a person needs to finish his collection. Also I have seen begginers take worse looking planes and rebuild them. Also in my opinion, which means little at times, if you can't get a McCoy or a Fox to run forget trying to run engines. I would have to say the whole enchilada is not worth the cost of shipping. The R-master would be a great fire starter and the engine could be melted down for tip weights, otherwise, I don't know what you could do with it.
As to newcomers, this outfit is likely to get them out of the hobby in frustration.
Ya'll next year at area contests for REAL bargains. on decent looking, well trimmed, ready to fly airplanes with reliable engines.

If this were a Red Head McCoy it might be worth it, but the series 21 weighs like a boat anchor. Not a bad running engine with a fresh ring, but it need lots of the extra flesh removed.

Leonard sells an *excellent* tongue muffler for the McCoy Red Head 35 made by Big Art. Highly recommended, my McCoy 35 Red Head runs great with it.

Leonards and Big Art's are very good, indeed. We also make our own here in Shelby Twp. Currell
