#0 sourceWhat I use to make fillets is Loctite Hysol 9462 epoxy. I was introduced to this stuff when I started building turbine models and other fiberglass ships. Basically you tack a former in the fuse with CA and then you caulk around the former with Hysol 9462 epoxy. When it dries, the former will NEVER come out without taking the fuse with it. Bottom line it's super-strong stuff. When I got back into CL I thought it might be good for making small fillets so I've been using it ever since. So far I've only had to make small fillets so I think Aeropoxy is better suited for the big wing fillets. I have used the Hysol on about twenty CL planes and I have never seen it crack at any point along the fillet. Super stuff.
I crashed a Ringmaster last year and the joints around the wing and tail that I used Hysol 9462 for fillets remained undamaged. Of course everything else was broke around the fillets. It was funny because the stab broke all around the small fillet, so about a ½” piece of the stab and the Hysol fillet where left. The glue comes in a 50ml canister that requires a gun and spiral glue tips that mix the glue on the way out. You put it on like your caulking and smooth them out with your finger. It takes overnight to dry but it makes a nice fillet for your sport models. I just used it on my Oriental and it turned out really nice. The glue has a lot of other uses, it’s great stuff. I sticks to wood, fiberglass, metal, etc…
Just thought I would pass along what has worked for me. It's 9 bucks a tube, 20 bucks for the gun, 75 cents for the tips at McMaster Carr.
