Canard CL??

I have heard of a local Cl canard. I assume that the flaps went down for the plane to go up, like a full scale plane. As I see it, the wing cannot tell if the pitch is induced by foreplane or a tail plane. But this plane is supposed to have the flaps and ele go the opposite way. it has pitch stability problems@!!. I think that it will fly that way, if you trim it as a flying wing, CG way foreward. What is the correct way to fly a canard? ??

Interesting story about the Starship. Supposedly the original design was flapless, Raytheon / Beachcraft said the plane had to have flaps. That is what caused the canard to have to be built with variable sweep. That caused a large heavy block of Titanium to be placed in the nose. The plane landed less than 10 knots slower with the flaps but it was now way overweight which caused an upgrade in the engines which killed the range, ETC. They have all? been purchased to be scraped so Raytheon will not have to support the 50 odd that were produced. I have seen some at a hanger at Raytheon 5 years ago, about 10 all lined up in a row, sad really.
