My computer can find the site but the operation "times out" after about 5 minutes of trying to open the page. It's one of my favorite sites and I really appreciate Isky making it available. Since it's not a commercial site it seems to take a little longer to get it up and running well again when it starts going on the fritz. I'm sure it will be up and working well again before to long. It's a good excuse to utilize some of the other excellent sites(like this one) a little more anyhow. I do miss Isky's site though!

Two tries is all I have patience for today.
Sometimes it's necessary to accept liabilities and try to work around them. Profile fuselages have a major stress riser area immediately behind the wing. They also have some tendency not to resist twisting under load. Carbon fiber is useful beyond just for some strengthening, but also for adding stiffness.
At another message forum (which I stopped patronizing due to a perception of apparent anal retentiveness aimed my direction), I created a summary message regarding various improvements to the venerable Banshee kit. I suggested two ribbons of carbon tape on each side of the fuselage rear from in front of the wing's TE to behind the stab's LE. That will stiffen the fuse against twist and also by crossing the stress riser area, strengthen the rear end as well.

This works REALLY well! I actually use a few tows and spiral wrap them. so the major load vectors from twisting the aft section of fuse are aligned with the direction of the tow. Perhaps overkill for a profile model but it does eliminate alot of the twisting that goes on behind the main TE.

No it's still working..he just probably deletes your messages..cuz like he says... he does that whenever he feels like it.
Actually it is a problem with the program that he uses. It is old, it is archaic, but it is free. And Iskander, also, does not get paid anything for maintaining his board, but offers it as a free service for the CL community. So we certainly cannot fault him for that. But, as a result, some people get "chopped" more than others, and, usually, when more than one person is posting at the same time.

A month ago, plus or minus, there was a worse slowdown on Bigwig (that's Iskandar's name for the old 486 he hosts his web site on) than the minor bit of slippage we saw here at SSW last week, to the extent that a lot of folks couldn't log on there, and only a few were able to either read messages or post new ones.
It's not always obvious that the system is down or extra slow, but since some time yesterday, it does seem that the place is offline. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
