I have always been told that the more fuel you burn the more power you are making.
I was thinking about this today and I think it might just be true.
I got my first PA 61 in 97 and it would only burn 6oz and it was a nice motor. However Bob G's burned a full 8oz and was noticably stronger than mine. The next season I took some notes from him and messed with many props and setups and got it burning 7 and a little bit. I noticed one thing I could go slower and get just as much if not more even usable tension everywhere.
Today I get my PA 65 to burn 8oz to get through the pattern. 5.85 is a normal lap time for me at full length lines. It is a pretty rich run but it does beep on and off here and there and I am in the 10000-10500 rpms 10800-11000 at the Nats. I run 15% nitro and have about half the head shims in it that Randy sends out when they are new.
I have found that raising the compression makes more power..duh! Raising the compression burns more fuel. Raising the power means more tension.
Do you all find the same thing to be true?
More fuel means more power?
I mean a Honda getting 43mpg using much fuel, and they are short on power and long on consumption. A top Fueler spitting out 6000+ is guzziling 15-16 gallons in the burnout and quater mile. I read that somewhere I may have it mixed up but I have seen the 4" fuel line on a one of those pups. They are not messing around!
