Stunt News, When Does It Arrive?

Just a quick note for those who are in a quandary wondering whether their SN is lost in the bowels of the Post Office beast or is actually still on the covered wagon enroute.

(For those who don't want to receive a STUNT NEWS and/or don't think it provides adequate value you can go on to the next topic)

I just received my copy of the JAN/FEB issue yesterday, the 6th of February. As a "regular" $25.00 member my copy is sent as Periodical Mailing. As a result my copy arrived almost six weeks later than my wife's copy which is mailed first class.

Unfortunately, PAMPA has no control of delivery once the copies go from our mailing company to the post office. Periodical mailing seems to be pretty much what the name implies...it goes out periodically more of less when there is nothing else to do (whether that is the intent of the nomenclature notwithstanding).

As a long time partner of the officer who fields all the dozens of phone calls every month regarding "where's my STUNT NEWS" I must encourage all who are understandably anxious to receive their copy to opt for the first class option when they renew. As first class matter the magazine receives the same level of expedited service as any other first class mail...like your bills from the gas company!

Unfortunately guys, paying the extra bucks is the only way you gain any control over the delivery date of your copy.

AS FAR as I'm concerned. When it comes it comes. I know that it will be here. NO bitching here. People need to remember the word VOLENTEER.

The US Postal Service has always facinated me ever since one day in Boy Scout week waaaayy back in the 50's I got to be Post Master at my local post office in Lovelock, Nevada. Things were done by hand and the mail came into town twice a day. The east bound came in at 0600 via train and the west bound came in at 1400 via train. The mail was sorted and into the boxes within the hour.!!!! Here in Huntsville, Alabama we get, on Tuesday , every Tuesday, junk mail, catalogs, etc. NEVER on Tuesday do we get first class mail. That means the local USPS saves junk mail for Tuesdays. We never get packages on Saturday. All mail is sorted at a regional sorting house, then delivered to the main po then to the branches. This adds three days to the mail. A letter mailed locally still goes to a regional sorting house, then back here and then out to the local box holder. Time for a local letter -- three days minimum.!! You want it when??? HA HAHAHAHAHAHA Yah git what yah paid fer.

As an overseas member who plumped for the surface option I don't really mind when my SN arrives as long as it does.

As long as I get my fix every 2 months or so then that's ok!

However I have had to turn up in two weeks apart and waited 3 months for the next...

Still I have my CLAPA and MKM newsletters to keep me occupied in between.
