I am going to do something that I shouldn't. In several threads prior to this, many people have gotten bent COMPLETELY out of shape and gone to the extreems of getting personal and downright DISGUSTING!!! And I said that I would not be a party to that type of PETTY quarelling!!
I submit this idea for consideration and if enough people think it is a good idea, I will submit a rules proposal.
Judge stunt as it is presently . The appearance will be as it is now and if a modeler is NOT the builder of the model, he does not receive ANY appearance points. Those that do build their models receive appearance points as is done at the present. Flight pattern points and scoring is done as is presently EXCEPT the appearance points are NOT added to the flight score UNLESS the flight scores are tied. If two flight scores are tied, THEN the one of those tied parties with the highest appearance points is the winner of the tied flight scored parties.
Example: First and second are tied on their flight pattern points--- The one with the highest appearance judging points will be awarded first and the other second. If say seventh and eighth are tied then the one in that tied pair with the most appearance points would be seventh and the other eighth. That would work with three and four way ties. It would still encourage most modelers to build their own (or lie about it) and to also encourage and reward those who do build their own to put a little extra effort into their models.
Think about it and either E-mail me or list feedback.
Many of our top fliers come very close to tieing and this method would be the most fair method I can think of.
This is from a STAUNCH BOM rule advocate and who usually gets FEW appearance points and less flight points.
