Running in a 20 y/o Fuji 15 IV#0 source
Hi everyone!

I have an unrun 20 year old Fuji .15 IV - how would you suggest I run it in?

The answer would have to be "Verrrry Carefully". Actually, we don't get exposed to Fuji engines much in this country, but I did notice that RJL/MECOA now imports (or owns?) Fuji, so if you need parts, you may be able to get them from RJL. As far as actual break-in, I would clean it carefully, inside and out, reassemble it carefully, fit it with a hot glowplug, a nylon 8-4 prop with the tips cut off...7" diameter...and balanced. Mount it securely on a test stand and hook it up to a 2 oz clunk tank filled with
5% nitro, 25% to 30% castor oil fuel, and run it blubbering rich for the first pint, then start bringing it to peak for a few seconds, several times during each tankful. After you have a half
gallon of fuel through it, it should be ready to try running CLOSE to peak for a whole tank. If that works ok, then you can fly it if you are careful with the needle settings. I would expect the engine to require a lot of breakin, but "your mileage may vary". I also would not expect a lot of power. Steve

Everything that was written in the last thread is correct. I became exposed to Fugi engines in Korea in the 60's. They were cheap, plentiful. available, and low on power.Life expendency wasn't that good either. Hobby Shack imported them in the 80's and from what i understand they did have their problems. Certain;y the examples that i saw run were not inspiring to say the least. However as a sport engine for what it is it should give you reasonable use and a certain amount of pleasure
