Should I put slop in the controls to the elevator on my new airplane? It is a classic Ryan ST and I want it to fly as nice as I want it to look (WISHFUL THINKING).
I have a couple friends that say the only way to go is to have an enlarges hole in the elevator horn so that there is a little slop in the elevator movement. Supposedly this helps eleminate hunting and bobbles.
I have never built an airplane with slop in the controls, at least not enough that anyone could tell, but I have heard good things about doing it. I have only flown one airplane that had the slop built in but I am told that it has other problems and not to judge by it.
OK panel of judges, peers, and people with opinions, let me hear what you think. And if you don't mind identifying yourself, please do. It is not that I value someone's opinion more than someone elses, it is just I don't know everyone's "handle" yet.
